a letter to my old friends
Wednesday, July 26th, 2006subject: hello mga dude at mga chicks
Share ko lang.
My wushu coach was invited to the SONA held last Monday. Yes I’m learning wushu and yes Peter Quina, my coach (along with two other teammates), was given a special invite to the thing, as in one that came in an envelope with his name on it - he won a gold kasi for the country in the recent SEA games. Hence, he was very much aware of the imporance of his attendance. He was actually going to attend but had to back out at the last minute due to bad weather conditions. Tumirik sasakyan niya dahil sa baha, at nang sinubukan niyang mag-commute, nabasa yung bag niya kung san nakalagay yun sanang susuotin niya at pati celphone niya nabasa din at nasira. So you would really understand why he didn’t go. Because of his absence, the Wushu Federation Philippines was reprimanded by Malacanang, and in turn, the Wushu Fed officers (the evil Chinese mafia) reprimanded Peter and sanctioned him a whole month’s allowance worth P11,000. Most of that stipend goes to the montly payment of his house, where he, his wife and kid live. Aside from the money he gets teaching one basic wushu class at the Wushu Fed, he has no other source of income. He is seriously considering leaving the Federation and resigning from the national team. That’s years of training and hard work down the drain.
Now I’m thinking if I can do something about this.
> I remember reading in Ria’s blog that her dad received Christmas gifts from Gloria years after he had passed away, and that she sent Malacanang a letter to let them know that. If I wrote a letter to Mike would he personally read it and personally respond to it, if he did indeed respond?
> Actually yes I know that Malacanang didn’t tell the Wushu Fed officers to punish the athletes in question by slapping them with such fine. The officers made that decision themselves. So maybe I should target those guys instead. But I can’t talk to them, they’re not gonna listen to me, sino ba naman ako. Anyway I don’t speak Chinese. Hehe. But seriously, if only I knew someone higher (more powerful and influential) than them, then maybe I could get the sanction cancelled?? Calling on all my rich, powerful and influential Chinese friends…!
> Or maybe I should just help him look for work, in the unlikely event that he decides to leave the Wushu Fed. My dad already said he can teach wushu in our ballet school, and that we can cut him a better deal than what he now has with the Federation. But I don’t know how that works, not being recognized by the official organisation. What other jobs are available for former athletes???
I’m sorry mga dude I’m just venting. Thanks for listening (reading). But honestly the reason why I posted this here is that I know you guys are the types who really do something about these kindsa things. And I’m hoping your pro-active spirits will rub off on me somehow. So suggestions, comments, actually ANY reaction, are more than welcome.
Love always, Jacqui.
